Motor Neuron Disease, Lyme Disease, Severe Muscle Atrophy
(Karen from Orange, CA – speaking for her husband, Tim) – In 1994, her husband, Tim, began experiencing weakness in his legs and arms. He started losing control of his toes and would trip and fall. His condition became progressively worse and they sought numerous neurologists, who ran tests, and diagnosed him with a motor neuron disease. He was given IV Ig treatments to boost his immunity. He received these treatments on and off for 2-3 years with no improvement. He was then diagnosed with Lyme disease in 1998 and underwent IV Rocephin, an antibiotic treatment for 2 years to combat the Lyme disease, but all to no avail. They then tried plasmaphoresis on him to clean his blood out. His doctors inserted a catheter in his chest, which got infected and required him to be hospitalized for 4 days. His symptoms, which include muscle weakness, and severe muscle atrophy and twitching has now led him to be wheelchair bound. He cannot walk on his own and he has much weakness in his head and neck. He cannot hold up his head or neck without resting it against something, and it is very difficult for him to open his mouth. His speech is also impaired now from tongue atrophy, where only his wife can understand him. Their sister-in-law heard Dr. Tong on the radio and suggested that Tim consult him. Karen researched Dr. Tong on the website and began listening to his show. Tim has now had 3 treatments from Dr. Tong. The first improvement that he noticed was that he could breathe much better and take in more air. After his second treatment, his speech was also improving. Now after 3 treatments, he has more control over his neck. He can lift it and move it around without having to lean it against anything. The one thing Karen noticed about Dr. Tong is that he told them that he could help Tim, whereas no other doctor has been able to say that. They now have hope for Tim and will continue with Dr. Tong’s program.
